From Nature to Abstraction

Artist Alma Čače transforms the raw energy of nature into layered abstract expressions, using handmade brushes crafted from natural materials to capture the eternal voice of nature itself. Her intuitive approach embraces spontaneity and organic imperfection, resulting in works that pulse with the same primal energy as the landscapes that inspire them.

Inspiration and style

Having grown up in Komiža on the island of Vis, Alma frequently returns to the island, where she finds her greatest inspiration. She regularly explores its coves and beaches, capturing scenes through photography and collecting materials that she repurposes in her work. Driftwood becomes a painting tool, a canvas, or a frame for her artworks. She places special emphasis on crafting her own brushes from found natural materials, such as driftwood, plants, and dried leaves, exploring the unique lines and textures they leave on the surface. At times, traces of these tools remain embedded in her paintings, serving as a subtle signature of nature itself.
